BMW E24 635 CSi Bob Jane T-Marts Bathurst 1000 1985 Ravaglia-Cecotto
This is the Schnitzer-prepared “Bob Jane T-Marts” BMW 635 that came second in the 1985 Bathurst 1000. Quite a feat for Cecotto and Ravaglia considering they had never before raced at Bathurst! There is a commercially available 1:43 model but I’ve come across only one other 1:18 custom build … with lots of errors.
The donor model for my build is an Autoart Jagermeister that I carefully stripped of all its decals leaving the orange paint intact. I designed & made all the new decals myself. Not the easiest set either, as a lot of both the lettering (fonts) and numbers are quite particular so I designed these mostly from scratch. Other custom build highlights include a black interior and modified roll cage. One detail I did not recreate is the extra oil cooler (right lower rear). The 1:43 model has this feature I have to admit. There’s plenty of photos to be found of replica cars but only a handful of the original one. Photo 11 is a replica. Photo 12 shows the original car.
