Porsche 956KH Marlboro 1000km Monza 1983 Wollek-Boutsen
And now for something completely different: not a BMW and not a custom build, strictly speaking. This is the Porsche 956 that won the Monza 1000km in 1983, with pilots Bob Wollek and Belgian Thierry Boutsen. Also, I consider this Marlboro livery to be one of the most iconic ever. This is a scale 1:12 Porsche, built from a basic resin kit (see photo nr 9) that I purchased from www.mezzo-mix-models.de A lot of time went into this build, especially preparing the kit: sanding the pieces down, putty, making all the pieces fit together properly. Lots of trial and error …
This is a “curbside” model: nothing opens and anything not visible is probably not there (eg. engine). The kit includes a lot of small detail parts but not all of them. Eg. the safety harness and antenna are handmade. All decals are made by me (none purchased). To the best of my knowledge this is the first 1:12 model of this car-livery combination.
A couple of months after this custom build TSM finally released the 1:12 model of the 956LH (in a very similar livery) that won Le Mans in the same year. There’s a photo included of both models.
